Guest lecture on "Overseas Opportunities for Mechanical Engineers"

To create a general awareness of Overseas employment opportunities for mechanical engineers, a guest lecture programme was organized by the department of Mechanical Engineering, Paavai Engineering College on 04.01.2012 in the Prestige Hall, at 2.00 p.m. Mr.D.Sureshkumar, Technical Director, Interalloy Industrial Solutions, Chennai was the chief guest.
The function was presided over by the Director-Administration of Paavai Institutions, Prof.K.K.Ramasamy. In his presidential address, the Director-Administration observed that Mechanical Engineering offers abundant job-opportunities and students should enhance their qualifications according to the latest technological trends in their fields so that they could favorably utilize the job market.
The chief-guest, Mr.D.Sureshkumar in his guest lecture explained the various aspects of job-opportunities and discussed the most frequently asked technical questions in the fields of Oil Refinery, Petro Chemical, Power Plant Heat Exchangers and Welding Sectors in the Arab and Middle-East Countries. He also highlighted the importance of non-destructive testing courses like Radiography, Ultrasonic testing, Liquid Penetrate Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing and the software�s used in these fields along with the international codes of classifications found in welding and designing. He further said that the mechanical know-how and its special application would help the engineering students to get good employment opportunities abroad. The programme ended with an interactive session with the students.
The Principal of Paavai Engineering College Dr.C.Jegadheesan, Principal of Paavai College of Engineering, Dr.V.Muralibhaskaran and the Dean, School of Engineering, Paavaai Group of Institutions Dr.M.Jayaraman took part and graced the occasion. Mr.K.Sudhakaran, second year Mechanical Engineering student welcomed the gathering.
