The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, in association with The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) – Erode Centre and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized an Alumni Guest Lecture on “Technological Advancement and Industry Transformation Using Artificial Intelligence” on 13.09.2024. The objective of the lecture was to help students explore how AI can be integrated into various industry processes to optimize workflows, predict outcomes, and enhance experiences.
In his Presidential address, Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal of Paavai Engineering College, emphasized that Artificial Intelligence is the unseen force driving much of the technological advancements we witness today. AI is at the core of countless devices and applications, from everyday consumer electronics to the complex machinery that powers industries. He also encouraged students to focus on their goals of becoming entrepreneurs by creating startups that can contribute to industry placements.
During the Keynote address, Mr. S. Santha Kumar, Senior Cyber Security Engineer at Bannermen Inc., Bangalore, highlighted the importance of the latest technological advancements in industries driven by Artificial Intelligence. He provided insights into how AI excels in analyzing large volumes of data, uncovering patterns that may elude human observation. He also addressed the challenges and opportunities in the AI sector, motivating students to engage in real-time projects using their innovative ideas in the AI domain.
Mr. Kumar demonstrated how AI is expanding its influence across industries such as healthcare, finance, transportation, and telecommunications through video clips. He concluded by answering various questions from students.
Dr. R. Mohanapriya, Convener and Head of the Department of ECE, along with Mr. S. Satheeshkumar, Alumni Coordinator, Mr. S. Sathish, AAC Coordinator, Mr. A. Saravanan, Faculty Coordinator, and five other faculty members, attended the event alongside 220 students. The session provided students with a deeper understanding of the fundamental concepts of Artificial Intelligence and its transformative impact on industry growth.
