The Convocation Ceremony of Paavai Engineering College was held in a grand manner to honour the graduating students who successfully completed their undergraduate and postgraduate programmes on 09.08.26 at Anandha Arangam. The ceremony was presided over by C.A.N.V.Natarajan, Founder and Chairman of Paavai Educational Institutions. Dr. K.K Ramasamy, Director Administration, Paavai Educational Institutions, delivered the welcome address. Professor V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras was the Chief Guest and delivered the Convocation address.
The Chief guest congratulated the graduates and appreciated their parents for their support in the students educational journey. He highlighted the importance of higher education in the development of the nation and stated that the Government of India aims to increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio in higher education from 30 percent to 50 percent. He urged the graduates to encourage the younger generation to pursue higher education and highlighted the role of higher educational institutions in achieving the objectives of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, particularly in technology, education, rural development and environmental protection.
Emphasising the need for technological self-reliance, he pointed out India’s achievements in indigenous research, science and technology and vaccine production during the COVID-19 pandemic. He noted that emerging fields such as agriculture, 3D printing, cyber security, robotics, pharmaceuticals and engineering offer significant opportunities for the younger generation. Addressing the graduates, he advised them to face failures with courage and consider them as stepping stones to success. He encouraged them to pursue high goals, follow the right path, work hard with dedication, maintain discipline and persevere in their efforts.
He also highlighted the importance of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be achieved by 2030. He urged the graduates to align their professional careers, research and industrial activities with these goals and contribute to balanced economic, social and environmental development. More than 800 students received their degrees during the ceremony. Eight Rank holders were honoured with gold coins, and the students who secured the first and second ranks in their respective departments were awarded gold and silver medals along with certificates.
