Alumni Guest Lecture on “Building Aircraft Structures: Safety and Quality”

The Department of Aeronautical Engineering, in association with the Alumni Association Cell (AAC), Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), organized an Alumni Guest Lecture on 30.09.2026 through Online Mode. The session was delivered by Mr. N. Anbumani, Junior Executive at Tata Lockheed Martin Aerostructures Ltd., Hyderabad, who belongs to the 2021–2025 Batch of the Department of Aeronautical Engineering.

The objective of the session was to provide students with an understanding of the importance of safety and quality in aircraft structural manufacturing, familiarize them with industrial practices and quality standards followed in the aerospace sector, and provide practical exposure to aerostructures manufacturing through valuable insights from an industry professional and alumnus.

Mr. N. Anbumani began the session by sharing his professional journey and highlighting the significance of aircraft structures in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of an aircraft. He explained the importance of structural integrity, precision manufacturing, quality assurance, and adherence to safety standards in the aerospace industry. He also provided insights into the industrial practices followed in aerostructures manufacturing and emphasized the need for maintaining stringent quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.

The lecture included practical insights into aircraft structural manufacturing, inspection, quality control, and safety requirements followed in the aerospace industry. Students actively participated in the session and interacted with the speaker on various aspects of aerostructures, industry practices, career opportunities, and the skills expected by aerospace organizations. The interactive session helped students relate their academic knowledge to real-world industrial applications and understand the importance of technical competency, precision, quality consciousness, and professional responsibility in the aerospace sector.

A total of 90 participants attended the event, including 82 students and 8 faculty members.

By the end of this alumni guest lecture, students were able to understand the importance of safety and quality in aircraft structural manufacturing, identify the significance of structural integrity and quality assurance, recognize industrial practices followed in aerostructures manufacturing, and relate their theoretical knowledge to practical applications in the aerospace industry.
