A one-day alumni webinar on the title “Engineering the Future of Public Services: A Multidisciplinary Perspective” was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering in association with the Paavai Civil Engineering Association, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), on 25.03.2026.
Ms.M.Aarthikumari, a second-year student, welcomed the gathering.Ms.R. Priyadharshini, a third-year student, introduced the Chief Guest. Dr.K.Sharmiladevi, Head of the Department, formally introduced the alumni speaker.
The alumni resource speaker, Er. J. Vinothini, Focus Blocks Development Fellow, District Planning Office, Erode, delivered an insightful webinar focusing on preparation strategies for competitive examinations such as UPSC, IES, TNPSC along with strong motivational guidance for pursuing public service careers.
The session emphasized the crucial role of engineers in nation-building, particularly in areas such as planning, execution, costing, and budgeting of infrastructure projects. The speaker highlighted how effective engineering practices contribute to sustainable development and improved infrastructure.
Additionally, the webinar provided valuable technical insights into key civil engineering domains, with help of NGO’s, central and state government development sectors. These discussions helped students understand the importance of technical expertise in addressing real-world challenges and contributing to efficient project execution and resource management.
Faculty members and students actively participated in the one-day alumni webinar. The session was highly interactive and informative. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms.Dhanya, a second-year student.
