Paavai Educational Institutions and Paavai Tamil Mandram jointly organized the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Birthday Celebration on 15th October 2026 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the former President of India, renowned scientist, and visionary leader. The celebration aimed to inspire students through his ideals of education, scientific thinking, hard work, discipline, and dedication to the nation.
The programme commenced with a prayer song, followed by Tamil Thai Vazhthu. K. Keerthana, III Year – EEE, Paavai Engineering College (PEC), extended a warm welcome to the gathering.
Shri CA. N. V. Natarajan, Chairman of Paavai Educational Institutions, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the importance of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s vision for a developed India. He highlighted the role of education, innovation, perseverance, and moral values in shaping students into responsible citizens. He encouraged students to dream big, work hard, overcome challenges, and contribute to the nation’s progress through their knowledge and skills.
Smt. Mangai Natarajan, Correspondent of Paavai Educational Institutions, felicitated the gathering. In her address, she highlighted how Dr. Kalam’s life and achievements continue to inspire young minds. She encouraged students to cultivate curiosity, develop leadership qualities, maintain discipline, and pursue their goals with determination. She also emphasized the importance of utilizing education and technology for the betterment of society.
As part of the celebration, various competitions and activities were organized for students. The participants enthusiastically took part in the events and showcased their creativity, knowledge, communication skills, confidence, and innovative thinking. These activities provided students with an opportunity to understand Dr. Kalam’s contributions to science, technology, education, and national development. The performances were evaluated based on content, clarity, creativity, confidence, presentation, and time management. The winners were awarded certificates and cash prizes in recognition of their outstanding performances.
The Principal, Dean – Academics, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and approximately 500 students from various departments participated in the programme with great enthusiasm. The celebration helped students gain a deeper understanding of Dr. Kalam’s life, achievements, and vision, inspiring them to become responsible citizens who strive for excellence and contribute to the nation’s development.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by T. Anandhakumar, IV Year – Cyber Security, Paavai College of Engineering (PCE).
