The Department of Agricultural Engineering at Paavai Engineering College organized an Alumni Guest Lecture titled “Farm Science Centre: Establishment and Operation” on 13 March 2026 (Friday) from 11.00 AM to 01.00 PM through Microsoft Teams. The session was delivered by Er. S. Hariharan, Founder of MSD Agro Center, Coimbatore, and an alumnus of Agricultural Engineering (Batch 2018–2022) of Paavai Engineering College. The lecture aimed to provide students with practical knowledge on establishing and operating a Farm Science Centre (Agri Clinic) and to motivate agricultural engineering students to explore entrepreneurship opportunities in the agricultural sector.
The program began with a welcome address by Ms. R. S. Rashmika, who warmly welcomed the resource person, faculty members, and students. She briefly introduced the importance of alumni interactions and highlighted how such lectures help students gain real-time industry knowledge and entrepreneurial insights from successful alumni working in the agricultural sector.
During the session, Er. S. Hariharan shared his professional experience in establishing MSD Agro Center and explained the concept and importance of Farm Science Centres in supporting farmers with technical guidance and agricultural advisory services. He discussed various opportunities available for agricultural graduates, including agri consultancy services, contract farming, farmer training programs, and agri input supply businesses. The speaker also explained sectors related to agribusiness such as fertilizer industries, pesticide industries, and biopesticide industries. In addition, he provided detailed information about the Agri-Clinic and Agri-Business Centre (ACABC) Scheme, licensing procedures, GST registration, Udyam registration, and the investment required to start an agro-based enterprise. The session provided valuable insights into how agricultural engineering graduates can establish successful agribusiness ventures and effectively support the farming community.
The lecture was followed by an interactive session, where students clarified their doubts regarding agri clinic establishment, government schemes, licensing procedures, and entrepreneurship opportunities. The students actively participated in the discussion and gained practical knowledge from the real-life experiences shared by the speaker.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. S. Kaviya, who expressed her sincere gratitude to the resource person for sharing his valuable knowledge and experience with the students.
