The Department of Mechanical Engineering, in association with the Resource Club and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), successfully organized an Guest Lecture on “Advancements Through Industry 5.O” on 18thSeptember 2026 from 2.00 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. at Cute hall. The objective of the guest lecture is to provide students with an understanding of Industry 5.0, its emerging technologies, and its role in transforming modern manufacturing by integrating human expertise, artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, and sustainable practices.
The event was effectively coordinated by Dr.P.Pugalenthi, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Mr.T.Sathees, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, under the guidance of the Convenor, Dr.A.P.Sivasubramaniam, Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and the Patron, Dr.M.Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College.
The session was delivered by Dr.K.Balasubramaniyam, M.E., Ph.D., Professor, School of Mechanical Engineering, Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (Bharath University), Chennai. The resource person presented the basic concepts and principles of Industry 5.0, its evolution from Industry 4.0, and the importance of human-centric, sustainable, and resilient manufacturing systems. The session further covered emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), Collaborative Robots (Cobots), Digital Twins, Smart Automation, and Data-Driven Manufacturing. The resource person highlighted the practical applications of Industry 5.0 in predictive maintenance, intelligent manufacturing, quality inspection, human–machine collaboration, process optimization, and sustainable production systems.
The guest lecture witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students of the Mechanical Engineering Department. The interactive session encouraged participants to raise questions regarding Industry 5.0 technologies, industrial implementation, human–robot collaboration, emerging career opportunities, and research prospects. The resource person addressed the queries effectively, making the session informative, interactive, and engaging.
The guest lecture concluded with a vote of thanks to the distinguished speaker, the management, faculty members, and all participants for their valuable support and active participation. The event successfully enhanced the participant’s awareness of the latest advancements in Industry 5.0 and motivated them to explore its applications in mechanical engineering research and industrial practice. Overall, the guest lecture served as an effective platform for bridging the gap between conventional manufacturing practices and the human-centric, intelligent, sustainable, and technologically advanced manufacturing systems of Industry 5.0.
