Guest Lecture on “GATE Preparation Strategies for Civil Engineering Aspirants”

A one-day online Guest Lecture on the title “GATE Preparation Strategies for Civil Engineering Aspirants” was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering in association with Paavai Civil Engineering Association, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous) on 04.08.2026. Ms.M.Jannathul Roshni, Final year student welcomed the gathering & Ms.R.Priyadharshini, Final year student gave the Chief Guest introduction.

 

Dr. M. Prem Kumar, Principal of Paavai Engineering College, delivered the presidential address at the event, highlighting the significance of the GATE examination and the numerous academic, research, and career opportunities it offers to aspiring engineers.

Dr. K. Sharmiladevi, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, introduced the speaker and briefly outlined the significance of the session on “GATE Preparation Strategies for Civil Engineering Aspirants.” She emphasized the importance of effective preparation and consistent practice for success in the GATE examination.

Dr. Venkatesh Baskaran, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Alagappa Chettiar Government College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikudi, was the resource speaker. He delivered an informative session on “GATE Preparation Strategies for Civil Engineering Aspirants,” covering effective study plans, subject-wise preparation techniques, time management, and exam-writing strategies. He also shared valuable tips on maximizing scores, selecting standard reference books, and making effective use of previous years’ question papers and mock tests. The speaker emphasized the importance of conceptual clarity, regular revision, and consistent practice in achieving a high GATE score. He further explained the opportunities available through GATE, including admission to premier institutions, scholarships, PSU recruitment, and research careers. The session motivated students to prepare systematically and confidently for the examination.

Dr.K.Sharmiladevi, HoD/Civil, Mr.M.Rajkannan, AP/Civil and Mrs.S.Rajeswari, AP/Civil Faculty coordinators along with faculty members, and around 111 participants were present in the Guest Lecture.

Finally the vote of thanks was delivered by Mr.V.Gokul, Second year student and our one day Guest Lecture was successfully concluded. The session was very informative and knowledgeable.
