The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), successfully organized an Inter-Department Guest Lecture on “Role of Chemical Engineering and Process Simulation in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing” on Monday, 7th September 2026, at Cute Hall from 12.00 PM to 01.00 PM.
The program commenced with a welcome address delivered by Ms. D. Monika, III Year Pharmaceutical Technology, who warmly welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of the session. The event was presided over by Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College, Namakkal.
During the Presidential Address, Dr. M. Premkumar emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary learning and encouraged students of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology to understand the relevance of chemical engineering principles and process simulation in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The Chief Guest was introduced by Ms. M. Kamalishree, III Year Pharmaceutical Technology, who presented the profile and academic achievements of the keynote speaker.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. P. Jayakaran, Head and Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, Paavai Engineering College, Namakkal. He delivered an insightful lecture on the role of chemical engineering and process simulation in pharmaceutical manufacturing, covering key concepts such as process design, simulation tools used for optimizing pharmaceutical production, and the integration of chemical engineering principles in ensuring efficient and quality-driven manufacturing processes.
The speaker also highlighted the growing importance of process simulation in reducing production costs and improving efficiency in pharmaceutical industries, and encouraged students to explore the interdisciplinary applications of chemical engineering in pharmaceutical technology. The session provided valuable insights and broadened the students’ understanding of process-oriented approaches in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The lecture was attended by faculty members and students of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology. The session was interactive, with students actively participating and clarifying their doubts.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. S. Sarathi, III Year Pharmaceutical Technology, who expressed his gratitude to the management, principal, chief guest, faculty members, and students for their support and participation. The event was effectively coordinated by Ms. J.L. Aarthi, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, under the guidance of the Convenor, Dr. M. Masilamani Selvam, Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, and the Patron, Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College.
Overall, the inter-department guest lecture was highly informative and successful in enriching the students’ knowledge on the role of chemical engineering and process simulation in pharmaceutical manufacturing, thereby achieving its intended objectives.
