Paavai Engineering College, Department of Food Technology, successfully organized a Guest Lecture on “Sustainable Packaging & Global Regulations” on 04 August 2026 from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. at Cute Hall. The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among students about sustainable packaging technologies, environmental regulations, and global packaging standards followed by the food industry.
The programme was presided over by Dr. K. Selvi, Dean – Academics, Paavai Engineering College. She welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of sustainable packaging in ensuring food safety, environmental protection, and industrial growth. She encouraged students to develop innovative and eco-friendly packaging solutions that meet international standards.
The Chief Guest, Dr. C. Gomadurai, Senior Associate Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, Kongu Engineering College, Perundurai, delivered an informative lecture on the latest advancements in sustainable packaging materials, biodegradable and recyclable packaging, circular economy concepts, and global packaging regulations. He explained the importance of complying with international food packaging standards and emphasized the role of sustainable packaging in reducing environmental pollution while ensuring product quality and consumer safety.
The session provided valuable insights into emerging trends in packaging technologies, regulatory requirements, and the challenges faced by the food packaging industry. Students actively interacted with the resource person by raising questions and participating in discussions on innovative packaging materials, environmental sustainability, and future career opportunities in the packaging sector.
The programme was organized under the guidance of Dr. S. Kailash, Head of the Department of Food Technology. Ms. S. Shifra, Assistant Professor, Department of Food Technology, and Mrs. A. Subhashini, Assistant Professor, Department of Food Technology, served as the Faculty Coordinators and ensured the successful conduct of the event.
Faculty members and students enthusiastically participated in the guest lecture. The programme concluded successfully with an inspiring message encouraging students to adopt sustainable practices, promote innovation in food packaging, and contribute towards building a greener and more sustainable future.
