The Department of Biotechnology, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous) organized a Workshop on “DWSIM For Biogas process simulation from organic Biomass Residues” on 18th August 2026 from 10.30
a.m. to 04.00 p.m. at AB 101Microbiology Laboratory. The workshop aimed to provide students with comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical training in Biogas Simulation, enable to Biogas simulation and organic Biomass Resides.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by the Master of Ceremony, followed by the Welcome Address delivered by Mrs Dr C. Nirmala, Head of the department, Department of Biotechnology, who welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, and students. The Chief Guest Introduction was presented by
Sobika, 4th year Biotechnology, introducing the resource person, Mr. S. Sivamani, Senior Lecture, University of Technology and Applied Science Salaah, Oman. He highlighted his academic background, professional experience, clinical expertise, and certifications in Biogas Production, He contributions to Various Biogas Production and Biofuel Development.
The technical session was handled by Mr. S. Sivamani, who delivered an informative keynote lecture on the fundamentals of DWSIM Sources. He explained the principles of DWSIM Application ant its Simulation.
Following the lecture, a hands-on practical workshop was conducted in the Microbiology Laboratory. The resource person demonstrated the correct use of DWSIM Application and Biogas simulation and Biomass Residues, A Computation Workshop on Biogas Simulation Using DWSIM. Students were trained in proper Knowledge in DWSIM Source, safe handling of Open-source Application.
The workshop was highly interactive, with students enthusiastically participating in the demonstrations and discussion sessions. They raised questions on Biogas Potential and its Production Flow for Industries, and career opportunities in Biogas Simulation. The resource person addressed every query with practical examples and clinical insights, making the learning experience engaging and application oriented. The programme was convened by Dr. C. Nirmala, Head, Department of Biotechnology, and coordinated by Ms. E. Gomathi, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, along with the faculty members and student volunteers of the department. The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous). The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by T. Indhumathi, 4th year Biotechnology, who expressed sincere gratitude to the management, Principal, Head of the Department, the esteemed resource person, faculty members, laboratory assistants, student coordinators, volunteers, and all the participants for their valuable support and enthusiastic participation in making the workshop a grand success.
Overall, the workshop was highly informative, interactive, and skill-oriented. It successfully strengthened the students’ practical knowledge of Biogas Simulation by the Open Source of DWSIM Application, Computational Ideology on Biogas Simulation, laboratory safety, and Computational procedures, thereby enhancing their clinical competence and preparing them for careers in biotechnology, and biochemical research.
