Hands-on Workshop on “Single-Cell Omics and Multi-Omics Analysis”

The Department of Biotechnology, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), in association with Scinicorn Labs, Kanyakumari, organized a two-day hands-on workshop on “Single-Cell Omics and Multi-Omics Analysis” on 13th and 14th October 2026, from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m., at the Paavai Innovation Forum, Eduskills Lab. The workshop aimed to provide students with practical knowledge of single-cell omics and multi-omics technologies and familiarize them with their applications in biotechnology, healthcare, and advanced biological research.

The programme featured Dr. A. Ronaldo Anuf, Director – Research and Development, Scinicorn Labs Pvt. Ltd., Kanyakumari, as the resource person. He shared his knowledge and expertise in advanced omics technologies and highlighted their significance in modern biological research.

The technical sessions focused on the fundamental concepts and applications of single-cell omics and multi-omics analysis. The resource person explained how single-cell technologies enable researchers to study individual cells, understand cellular diversity, and identify variations in gene expression. He also discussed multi-omics approaches that integrate different types of biological data, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, to gain a comprehensive understanding of biological systems.

The workshop highlighted the applications of these technologies in disease research, personalized medicine, drug discovery, and biomarker identification. The hands-on sessions provided students with practical exposure to advanced analytical techniques and demonstrated how omics data can be used to investigate complex biological processes. The programme also emphasized the growing importance of computational tools and data analysis in contemporary biotechnology research.

The sessions encouraged students to participate actively, clarify their doubts, and explore the latest developments in single-cell technologies and integrated omics research. The workshop enhanced their scientific knowledge and helped them understand the relevance of advanced omics techniques in research and development.

The programme was convened by Dr. C. Nirmala, Head of the Department of Biotechnology, under the patronage of Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College. The event was successfully organized with the support and coordination of the faculty and student coordinators of the Department of Biotechnology.

Overall, the two-day hands-on workshop provided a valuable learning experience for the participants. It offered practical exposure to emerging omics technologies and motivated students to explore advanced research opportunities in biotechnology, healthcare, and life sciences. The programme successfully strengthened students’ understanding of single-cell omics and multi-omics analysis and highlighted their significance in next-generation biological research.
