Industrial Visit to ISRO Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR), Sriharikota

On 22 September 2026, a team of 100 students from various departments, including Agriculture, Aeronautical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Computer Science and Engineering (IoT), Chemical Engineering, Cyber Security, and Master of Computer Applications (MCA), along with eight faculty members, visited the ISRO Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR), Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The visit was organized under the ISRO Space Tutor Programme in association with the Department of Aeronautical Engineering, Paavai Engineering College.

The team was accompanied by faculty members from various departments: Dr. P. Muthusamy (Head – Cyber Security and MCA), Dr. R. Mohnapriya (Head – ECE), Dr. P. Tamilselvan (Professor – Agriculture), Dr. B. Venkatesan (Head – IT), Mr. S. Suthagar (Assistant Professor – Aeronautical Engineering), Dr. M. Thirumala Lakshmi (Associate Professor – ECE), Mr. S. Sathis (Assistant Professor – CSE (IoT)), and Mrs. P. Elakkiya (Assistant Professor – MCA).

During the visit, Mr. Kumar from ISRO provided an informative guided tour of the Mission Control Centre and Launch Pads I and II, explaining the complexities involved in rocket launch operations. The students gained firsthand exposure to the advanced technologies, sophisticated infrastructure, and operational procedures that support India’s space exploration missions.

The visit served as a valuable learning experience, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications. Students also learned about internship and project opportunities at ISRO, including the application procedures and eligibility criteria. This interaction provided them with valuable insights into career opportunities in space science, aerospace engineering, and research and development.

The visit reflected Paavai Engineering College’s commitment to experiential learning, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. It offered students an inspiring opportunity to explore India’s achievements in space technology, broaden their technical knowledge, and develop an interest in future careers in space research and exploration. The experience is expected to motivate the students to pursue their academic and professional aspirations with renewed enthusiasm and curiosity.
