Elocution Competition – Speak to Inspire

The Departments of English, Paavai Engineering College and Paavai College of Engineering in association with English Club organised an Elocution Competition: Engineers, Speak English with Purpose, Write English with Passion! on 16.03.26. The event commenced with a prayer song and Tamil Thai Vazhthu. Ms.P.Jayasree, I-CSE-B, PEC welcomed the gathering. Shri. CA.N.Natarajan, Chairman, Paavai Educational Institutions gave the Presidential Address. He motivated the participants and the audience by his vibrant speech. He said that English communication plays a vital role in today’s academic, professional and social life especially to young Engineers. English is widely used as a global language and the ability to communicate effectively in English helps students to succeed in education, career and personal development. Students need good communication skills to understand subjects, write examinations, prepare projects and present seminars. Effective English communication also helps students to participate confidently in discussions, debates and competitions.

Smt. Mangai Natarajan, Correspondent, Paavai Educational Institutions felicitated the programme. She said that the objective of the competition was to encourage students to develop confidence in public speaking, improve their communication skills and express their ideas effectively in English. It builds confidence, improves thinking ability, and helps individuals express their ideas in a clear and organized manner. People who communicate well in English can interact with others easily and take part in national and international activities. Moreover, English is the most commonly used language in technology, science, business and the internet. Learning to communicate effectively with passion in English helps Engineers gain more knowledge and stay updated with the modern world.

The judges evaluated the participants’ performance based on content, fluency, pronunciation, confidence and overall presentation. At the end of the event, the winners were awarded cash prize. The programme ended successfully with, expressing gratitude to the management, organizers and participants for making the event a grand success. Principal, Dean Academics, Heads of Departments and faculty members were also present. A total of 500 students from different departments were present. The event came to an end with vote of thanks proposed by Mr. M.Santhosh, I CSE (IOT), PEC.
