The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, in association with The Institution of Engineers (IEI), organized an informative Seminar on “Energy Conservation and Distribution” on Tuesday, 10th March 2026, in the college premises.
The session was graced by Mr. P. Shanmugam, B.E. (EEE), Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO), Karur, who served as the distinguished guest speaker. With his rich field experience in power distribution and energy management, Mr. Shanmugam delivered an insightful lecture on the significance of energy conservation and efficient electrical power distribution systems.
He elaborated on various energy conservation techniques, methods to reduce transmission and distribution losses, and the importance of optimal utilization of electrical energy. He also shared practical insights from real-time power distribution scenarios, which helped students understand the challenges and solutions in the power sector.
The session was highly interactive, with active participation from students and faculty members. The lecture proved highly beneficial for aspiring engineers by enhancing their knowledge of sustainable energy practices and modern distribution systems.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, where the speaker addressed queries related to energy efficiency, power losses, and distribution management.
The Management and Principal appreciated the guest speaker for his valuable contribution and also commended the organizing team for successfully conducting the event. This lecture reflects the department’s continuous effort to promote practical learning and industry interaction among students.
This one-day offline Guest Lecture was organized by the Professor and Head of the Department, Dr. G. Balaji, and coordinated by Mrs.G.Visalakshi , Ms. S. Oviyapriya, and Mr. S. Sathisakumar. Ms. S. Shobika, a third-year EEE student, introduced the chief guest, and Ms. M. Deepikasri, also a third-year EEE student, delivered the vote of thanks.
