The Department of Biotechnology, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), in association with the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) and Paavai Entrepreneurship Development Cell (PEDC), organized an interaction session on “Angel Investment / VC Funding Opportunities” on 07th July 2026 from 2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. at Cute Hall. The objective of the programme was to educate students on the fundamentals of angel investment and venture capital funding, enabling them to understand the financial ecosystem required to transform innovative ideas into successful startups.
The session commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by S. Madhumitha, III Biotechnology, who graciously welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, and students. This was followed by the prayer song and the presidential address given by Dr. R.R. Krishnamurthy, Director, Centre for Research, Paavai Institutions, who emphasized the importance of entrepreneurial thinking and funding awareness among budding engineers. The programme was felicitated by Prof. Kamala Krishnamurthy, Centre Head, Paavai Innovation Forum, Paavai Educational Institutions.
The Chief Guest Introduction was given by V.Shobika, III Biotechnology, who introduced the distinguished speaker, Mr. M. Sriraman, Co-Founder and Board Member of IAMUSAP Ventures Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, highlighting his vast experience in venture capital, startup mentorship, and his contributions to nurturing entrepreneurial talent.
The technical session was handled by Mr. M. Sriraman, who delivered an insightful and thought-provoking lecture on Angel Investment and Venture Capital Funding. He explained the fundamental concepts of startup funding, seed investment, and the venture capital lifecycle. The speaker elaborated on how innovative ideas can be transformed into successful startups through proper planning, market validation, and strategic investment support. He also discussed real-world case studies, investor expectations in the life sciences sector, and the growing importance of regulatory compliance and intellectual property rights in securing funding. The session encouraged students to explore research opportunities and innovative applications in entrepreneurial ventures.
The lecture was highly interactive, with students actively participating and seeking clarification on startup pitching strategies, business growth models, funding pathways for biotech innovations, and future career prospects as entrepreneurs in the life sciences industry.
