Paavai Educational Institutions and Paavai Tamil Mandram jointly organized Speech, Drawing and Poetry Writing Competition in the theme ‘World Nature Conservation Day’ on 7 August 2026. The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness among students about environmental conservation and encouraging their interest in Tamil literature and creative expression related to nature. The programme commenced with a prayer song, followed by Tamil Thai Vazhthu. T. Naren, II IT, PEC extended a warm welcome to the gathering.
Shri CA N. V. Natarajan, Chairman, Paavai Educational Institutions, delivered the Presidential Address. He motivated the participants on the importance of conserving nature. He explained the traditional Tamil classification of landscapes – Kurinji, Mullai, Marutham, Neithal, and Paalai and highlighted the close relationship between Tamil culture and nature. He emphasized that environmental conservation is not the responsibility of government and organizations alone, but a shared responsibility of every individual. He encouraged everyone to plant trees, conserve water and energy, reduce plastic usage, minimize waste and protect wildlife.
Dr. J. Bharathi, Department of Tamil, Namakkal Kavignar Ramalingam Government Arts and Science College for Women, Namakkal was the Chief Guest. In her address, she explained that the main objective of the competition was to encourage students to develop an interest in Tamil literature associated with nature. She emphasized the significant role of college students as future leaders in bringing positive changes to society and promoting environmental conservation.
Smt. Mangai Natarajan, Correspondent, Paavai Educational Institutions, felicitated the gathering. In her address, she highlighted the importance of Tamil culture, traditional lifestyles, and the close connection between Tamil people and environment. She encouraged students to cultivate regular reading habits and develop a deeper interest in Tamil language and literature. She also emphasized that natural resources are limited and should be used wisely.
The Elocution competition participants’ performances were evaluated based on content, fluency, confidence, time management, creativity and overall presentation. The winners of the competitions were awarded certificates and cash prizes in recognition of their outstanding performances.
The Principal, Dean- Academics, Heads of Departments, faculty members and around 500 students from various departments participated in the programme with great enthusiasm. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by E. Rajasree, III CSE, PEC.
