A total of 443 students from various departments and sections participated in the programme along with faculty members and student volunteers from the participating clubs. The students were from Cyber A, Cyber B, R&A, Agriculture, Aeronautical Engineering, AIML A, AIML B, IoT, Chemical Engineering, and Pharmaceutical Engineering. The collaborative participation of YRC, Scouts, Trekking Club, NCC, and NSS contributed to the successful conduct of the hiking activity and provided students with an opportunity to develop a spirit of teamwork, service, discipline, and social and environmental responsibility.
The Trekking programme provided students with an opportunity to explore the natural surroundings and experience the benefits of outdoor activities. The students were guided and supervised by the faculty members and coordinators throughout the activity. Proper instructions regarding safety, discipline, hydration, appropriate trekking practices, and environmental protection were given to all participants before and during the trek. Students actively participated in the trekking activity with enthusiasm and maintained good coordination and discipline throughout the programme.
As part of the environmental awareness initiatives of the Trekking Club, seed sowing and waste plastic collection activities were also carried out during the programme. Students collected waste plastics found along the trekking route and participated in seed-sowing activities to promote greenery and environmental conservation. These initiatives helped students understand the importance of keeping natural environments clean and contributing towards sustainable development.
The trekking activity also encouraged students to develop team spirit, mutual support, confidence, physical endurance, and leadership skills. The interaction among students from different departments created a sense of unity and cooperation. Faculty members played an important role in guiding the students, ensuring their safety, and motivating them to actively participate in the various activities.
The Phase I trekking activity at Kaliya Varadharaja Perumal Temple and Hill was successfully completed with active participation from 443 students and faculty members. The programme provided a valuable learning experience beyond the classroom and helped students develop a greater appreciation for nature, physical fitness, teamwork, and environmental responsibility. The activity was a meaningful initiative of the Trekking Club of Paavai Engineering College towards creating healthy, responsible, environmentally conscious, and socially responsible students.
