The Department of Mechanical Engineering, in association with the Resource Club and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), successfully organized an Online Webinar on “Introduction to Machine Learning and its Application in Mechanical Engineering” on 07 August 2026 from 11.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. through the Microsoft Teams platform. The webinar was conducted with the objective of introducing students and faculty members to the fundamentals of Machine Learning (ML) and highlighting its growing applications in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
The session was delivered by Dr. G. Saravanakumar, M.E., Ph.D., Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, B.M.S. College of Engineering, Bengaluru. The resource person presented the basic concepts of Machine Learning, different learning techniques, data-driven decision-making, and the role of artificial intelligence in modern engineering industries. He further explained the practical applications of ML in predictive maintenance, quality inspection, condition monitoring, manufacturing process optimization, product design.
The webinar witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students of the Mechanical Engineering Department. The interactive session encouraged participants to raise questions regarding AI tools, industrial implementation, career opportunities, and research prospects in Machine Learning. The resource person addressed the queries effectively, making the session informative and engaging.
