The Department of Aeronautical Engineering, in association with the Aeromodeling Club and ISRO Space Tutor, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), organized AEROCK’S 2026 – ROCKET REVOLUTION on 10.10.2026 from 02.00 p.m. to 04.30 p.m. at the Aeronautical Block, as part of the celebration of World Space Week 2026. The event was conducted to encourage students’ creativity, scientific curiosity, innovation, and interest in aerospace and space technology through engaging technical competitions.
The objective of the event was to create awareness about space science and technology, promote innovative thinking, and provide students with opportunities to demonstrate their technical knowledge and creative skills. The competitions also aimed to encourage teamwork, scientific problem-solving, and the practical application of engineering concepts related to aerospace and rocketry.
Two competitions, namely Poster Presentation and Balloon Rocketry, were conducted as part of the programme. The Poster Presentation event provided students with an opportunity to communicate scientific and technical concepts through informative and creative visual presentations. It encouraged students to explore space-related topics, organize technical information, and present their ideas effectively. The Balloon Rocketry event introduced students to the fundamental principles of rocket propulsion and motion through a practical activity using balloons. It helped students understand basic concepts related to thrust, action and reaction, and the factors influencing the motion of a rocket.
The competitions provided a platform for students to showcase their creativity, technical understanding, presentation skills, and enthusiasm for aerospace engineering. The activities also helped connect theoretical concepts with practical demonstrations and encouraged students to explore the exciting fields of rocketry and space technology.
The event was conducted under the patronage of Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College, with Dr. R. Arravind, Head of the Department of Aeronautical Engineering, serving as the Convenor. The event was coordinated by Dr. D. Deepak, Associate Professor, Department of Aeronautical Engineering. The programme aimed to strengthen students’ interest in space exploration, promote scientific thinking, and encourage active participation in technical and co-curricular activities.
By the end of the event, students were expected to gain awareness of space science and technology, explain the basic principles of rocket propulsion through practical activities, develop creativity in presenting scientific concepts, and improve their technical communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
AEROCK’S 2026 – ROCKET REVOLUTION served as a platform to celebrate World Space Week 2026 and inspire students to explore the fields of aerospace engineering, rocketry, and space science through creativity, practical learning, and technical participation. A total of 110 participants attended the event, including 62 students from various departments and 48 students from Aero department.
