Workshop on “Design Thinking, Critical Thinking and Innovation Design”

 A one-day workshop on “Design Thinking, Critical Thinking and Innovation Design” was organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), Namakkal, in association with IIC, EDC, and ISTE, on 18th March 2026. The workshop was presided over by Dr. K. K. Ramasamy, Director Administration, Paavai Engineering College. He sparked students’ innovation and curiosity through thought-provoking questions in his presidential address and emphasized the importance of innovation across all domains.

The programme was convened by Dr. R. Mohanapriya, Associate Professor and Head, Department of ECE. The inaugural session began with a welcome address by Ms. Madhuvarshini G, III Year ECE, followed by the presentation of the Vision and Mission of the Institution and Department, along with PEOs, PSOs, and POs, by the students. The resource speaker was introduced by Mr. Selvan Kannan K. S, III Year ECE.

The keynote address for the workshop was delivered by Dr. R. Kannan, Ph.D., Certified Master Trainer, EDII Tamil Nadu, and Founder and Director of TECHTRA, Namakkal. Dr. R. Kannan provided an insightful introduction to entrepreneurship and elaborated on design and development services for high-end products and cutting-edge technologies. He also created awareness about the overall process of idea generation, opportunities for startups in India, and the importance and benefits of startups. The session included practical examples and a detailed explanation of various methods of entrepreneurship and business development.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Dharanya K, II Year ECE, followed by a reiteration of the Institution’s and Department’s Vision and Mission, PEOs, PSOs, and POs. The workshop successfully achieved its objectives by enhancing participants’ knowledge in design thinking, critical thinking, and innovation design and mapped with SDG’s – 4,8,9,12,17. It proved to be a valuable platform for students and faculty members to gain insights and explore research directions in emerging technological domains. It was attended by  94 students from different departments along with faculty coordinators. The event was coordinated by the faculty members Mr. S. Vijayakumar, Mr. A. Boopalan, Mrs. C. Vanaja, and Mr. D. Satheeshkumar from the department of ECE.
