The Department of Cyber Security, Paavai Engineering College, organized a workshop on “Protecting IPR and IP Management for Start-ups” on 27th August 2026 at 11.00 a.m. through online mode. The programme commenced with a welcome address by the student coordinator.
The session featured Dr. N. Thillaiarasu, Associate Professor, School of Computer Science and Engineering, REVA University, Bengaluru, as the Guest Speaker.
The expert session focused on the importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in protecting innovations and supporting start-ups. The speaker highlighted the significance of innovation, intellectual property protection, patents, and the role of technology in developing and commercializing innovative ideas.
During the interactive session, students gained valuable insights into identifying innovative ideas, protecting intellectual property, understanding patents, and transforming research and technological innovations into valuable intellectual assets.
The speaker also shared his academic and research experiences and emphasized the importance of protecting innovations at an early stage, particularly for start-ups and young innovators. Students actively participated in the interaction and raised questions related to IP protection, patents, innovation, research, and opportunities for commercialization.
The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, followed by the vote of thanks.
