he Department of Agricultural Engineering, in association with Paavai Velaan Mandram, Paavai Gardening Committee, and Natural Club, organized a Fireless Cooking Competition at Paavai Engineering College on 16th October 2026 to commemorate World Food Day. The event aimed to create awareness among students about healthy eating habits, food safety, nutrition, and the importance of minimizing food waste.
The programme commenced with a welcome address delivered by P. Kirupa, a final-year Agricultural Engineering student, who highlighted the significance of food in sustaining life and emphasized the importance of consuming nutritious food and adopting healthy eating habits.
The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. A. Vivekanandhini, M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of the Department of Agricultural Engineering. The programme was coordinated by Mr. T. Boobalan, Faculty Coordinator; Mr. U. Karthickeya, Coordinator of Paavai Velaan Mandram and Paavai Gardening Committee; and Mr. N. Satheswaran, Coordinator of Natural Club. Their guidance and support contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the event.
The dishes prepared by the participants were evaluated by the jury members, Dr. P. Tamilchelvan, Mrs. M. Bhuvaneswari, and Ms. K. Subha, based on criteria such as creativity, presentation, nutritional value, and taste. The competition provided a valuable platform for students to showcase their culinary skills, teamwork, and innovative thinking while demonstrating the preparation of healthy dishes without using fire.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by M. Saranya, a final-year Agricultural Engineering student. She expressed her sincere gratitude to the Head of the Department, faculty coordinators, jury members, participants, student coordinators, and student volunteers for their active involvement, support, and valuable contributions to the successful organization of the event.
