Laboratory Facility

Power Electronics & Drives Lab

    This lab bestows an overview about the power electronic circuits employed in controlling and maintenance of power supply. This lab is equipped with various kits which include inverters, rectifiers, cyclocontrollers, AC voltage regulators, choppers etc. The lab facilitated with the controllers like FPGA and DSP, the use of which is needed for various industries, Power Grid, ISRO and all drives related companies.

Equipment:

SCR, MOSFET & IGBT, UJT Firing Unit, TRIAC Phase Control Unit, SCR Half Controlled & Fully Controlled Three Phase Converter, SCR single Phase Cyclo Converter, SCR Series Inverter, SCR Parallel Inverter, Resonant DC – DC Converter, Step Down & Step Up MOSFET Based Chopper, Switched Reluctance motor drive using DSP, PLC based drives, IGBT based 3 phase SVPWM inverter, FPGA, Vector controlled implementation software .

 

INTEGRATEDCIRCUITS & MICROPROCESSOR LABORATORY

The lab helps in developing the programming knowledge in the areas of 8085 & 8086 Microprocessors and 8051 Microcontrollers. The lab also includes the interfacing equipment namely Traffic Light Controller, Temperature Controller, A/D and D/A Converters, Stepper Motor and DMA Controllers which play a major role in control based projects.

Equipment:

Interfacing of Keyboard / Display, Interfacing of 8 bit D/A & A/D Converter, Stepper Motor Controller, 8085 &8086 Microprocessor Trainer Kit, 8051 Microcontroller Trainer Kit, 8251 & 8253 Interface.

 

CONTROL SYSTEMS LABORATORY

The lab focus on technical implementation issues of classical control theory in the frequency domain and modern control theory in the state-space. Design and implementation for this course is done using MATLAB / Simulink software and hardware for control of the plants. Various measurements involved and the latest instrumentation technologies are experimented in the lab. This lab acquaints the students to design and scrutinize a controller for the productiveness.

Equipment:

Maxwell’s Bridge, Wheatstone’s Bridge, LVDT, Anderson’s Bridge, Schering Bridge, DeSauty’sBridge, ADC, DAC.

ELECTRICAL MACHINES LABORATORY

This lab helps the students to have exposure towards understanding performance characteristics of AC & DC machines. The increasing demand for AC & DC drives on industrial sector necessitates the presence of AC & DC machines laboratory in our Curriculum. We have assorted machines comprising Ward Leonard set, CCDM, Shunt and Series motors, Transformers, Alternators, SRM, Brushless DC Motors, Synchronous and Induction Motors of various binds.

Equipment:

DC shunt Motor, DC Compound Motor, Squirrel Cage Induction motor, DC Compound Motor, DC Series Motor, Slip Ring Induction Motor, Synchronous Motor, DC shunt Motor  coupled to Alternator .

ENGINEERING PRACTICES LABORATORY

The basic wiring lab expose the basic concepts , knowledge and imparts hands on training to the students on the electrical wiring systems, like symbols, components , safety measures , wiring methods  etc. The knowledge gained through the lab helps the students to do and build their own electrical wiring practices as they are associated in the day to affairs and life routines. This lab assists the basic wiring of inter disciplinary projects.

Equipment:

Single Phase Energy Meter, lamp Load,

Inductive Load, Megger, Capacitive load.

ELECTRIC / ELECTRONIC CIRCUITS LABORATORY

This lab introduces students to build a simple circuit, make some measurements to verify the theory, and finally to disassemble the circuit. The lab is acquainted with latest electronic gadgets and modules which are highly in built with the necessary sophistications needed to meet the recent curriculum and carry out effective projects.

Equipment:

Series and Parallel resonance trainer kit, RLC Transient trainer kit, Two port parameter trainer kit, Power factor measurement trainer kit, Kelvin’s double bridge, Wheatstone Bridge, Schering bridge, Anderson bridge .

POWER SYSTEM SIMULATION LABORATORY

Funded by AICTE, New Delhi under MODROBS scheme for the cost of Rs. 15,00,000/- , the lab is updated with software namely MATLAB, ETAP, PSIM , Lab View. The lab is utilized by the UG & PG students to enhance the Power System Analysis and Stability studies. The laboratory acts as a predominant source for completing their projects.

WIPRO EVOLO- DESKTOP, LabVIEW 8.5.1, MAT Lab 7.2A, PSIM 9.0 

               

DIGITAL  CIRCUITS LAB

The Digital Circuits ab imparts knowledge regarding the implementation of integrator, differentiator oscillators and multivibratorsand accomplishment of digital signals with verification of the truth table for various integrated circuits like basic gates, multiplexers / demultiplexers, counters, encoders/decoders, adders/subtractors etc. This facilitates the young minds to create new digital paraphernalia to meet the requirements of the advanced era.

R&D centre

The R&D centre provides facilities to do projects relevant to the course and are motivated to take up in house and industry projects. The research areas include power electronic drives, power system, nanotechnology, electrical vehicles  and renewable energy. The R&D centre is incorporated with simulation software and hardware modules such SRM drives, BLDC drives DSP and FPGA based drives.
