Dr. T. Arun Kumar is currently working as an Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous) in Pachal, Namakkal, Tamil Nadu. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Periyar University, Salem, in 2001. He then completed his Master’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Madras in 2003. In 2007, he graduated with a Master of Technology in Bioinformatics, with first-class distinction, from Sathyabama University, Chennai. He received his Ph.D. in Bioengineering in 2017 with good comments. Additionally, he holds a PG Diploma in Biomedical Informatics and a PG Diploma in Agricultural Inputs.
His research interests lie at the intersection of medical microbial technology and medical image processing. He is deeply engaged in exploring the intricate interactions between microbial entities and human health, leveraging advanced microbial technology to develop innovative diagnostic and therapeutic solutions. His work in medical image processing involves the application of sophisticated algorithms and computational techniques to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of medical imaging by integrating these two fields,
Dr. T. Arun Kumar has over 18 years of teaching and research experience in the field of Bioengineering. His contributions include sequencing, with 19 sequences deposited in GenBank – NCBI under unique accession numbers. He has published 10 scientific papers in high-impact WOS and SCI indexed international journals, and has presented 16 publications at national and international conferences. Dr.T. Arun Kumar has organized various technical symposia and workshops for students, and has served as a convener at various International conferences.
Dr. T. Arun Kumar’s expertise in bioengineering is highly valued, leading him to serve as an editor and reviewer for several prestigious Q1,Q2 journals. His roles include critically evaluating research for journals such as the International Journal of Molecular Medicine and Pharmacognosy Magazine, published by SAGE, among others. He holds 7 patent publications in Biomedical Engineering. Up to 2024, Google Scholar shows that his work has garnered over 46 citations, with an h-index of 4 and an i10-index of 2.
Dr. T. Arun Kumar has served as a member of the Syllabus Framing Committee for the Biomedical Engineering Department in the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE).
Dr. T. Arun Kumar has organized guest lecture programs for various institutions and has also completed various NPTEL courses to expand his knowledge in new areas, continuously enhancing his expertise and staying updated with the latest advancements in his field. Additionally, he has guided numerous B.Tech and M.Tech student projects and acts as a question paper setter for various universities and autonomous colleges.
