Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “AI Enhanced Educational Technologies”

The Department of Mechatronics Engineering & Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), in association with PencilBitz, successfully organized a one-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “AI Enhanced Educational Technologies” on March 30, 2026, conducted in online mode from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

The programme began with a welcome address by Ms. G. Nishanthini (III Year B.E. Mechatronics Engineering). The Chief Guest and resource person, Dr. Sagar B. S., Assistant Director of IQAC and Assistant Professor at REVA University, Bengaluru, was introduced by Mr. A. Logeshkumar (III Year B.E. Mechatronics Engineering).

The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. D. R. P. Rajarathnam, Professor and Head, who emphasized the importance of integrating artificial intelligence into teaching, assessment, and academic quality enhancement, aligning with outcome-based education and institutional standards.

The expert session by Dr. Sagar B. S. focused on the application of AI in modern education, including the use of AI-driven tools for teaching–learning processes, assessment automation, and improving academic quality through innovative pedagogical practices.

The FDP significantly benefited the participating faculty members by enhancing their understanding of AI-enabled educational technologies. Participants gained practical exposure to digital tools that support interactive, student-centered learning, along with strategies to design innovative teaching materials and improve assessment methods. The session also strengthened awareness of quality assurance practices and the role of AI in enhancing academic productivity and effectiveness.

The programme was conducted under the patronage of Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal, with Dr. D. R. P. Rajarathnam serving as Convener. The event was coordinated by Mr. D. Anandan and Mr. S. Manikandan, Assistant Professors.

The FDP witnessed active participation from faculty members across various engineering institutions. The session included interactive discussions, enabling participants to clarify queries and gain deeper insights into AI-based educational practices. Free registration and e-certificates were provided to all participants.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. M. G. Dhanishkar (III Year B.E. Mechatronics Engineering).

Overall, 120 participants were attended and the FDP proved to be a highly effective initiative, reinforcing the importance of adopting AI-driven approaches in education and encouraging faculty to continuously upgrade their technological and pedagogical competencies to enhance student learning outcomes.
