The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology at Paavai Engineering College successfully organized an Academic Guest Lecture on the topic, “Bioprospecting the Ocean for Novel Drug Molecules,” on 8th April 2026 at Cute Hall from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Ms. Rajasri, III Year Pharmaceutical Technology student, who welcomed the gathering and emphasized the importance of the guest lecture. The event was presided over by Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal of Paavai Engineering College, Namakkal.
In his presidential address, Dr. M. Premkumar highlighted the significance of academic excellence and research in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. He encouraged students to actively involve themselves in research activities and make use of opportunities such as expert lectures and academic interactions to strengthen their knowledge and skills.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Muthezhilan Radhakrishnan, Dean – Research and Development Cell, AMET Deemed to be University, was introduced by Ms. Subhashree, III Year Pharmaceutical Technology student, who presented a brief profile of the speaker and his academic achievements.
Dr. Muthezhilan Radhakrishnan delivered an insightful and engaging keynote address on marine bioprospecting and the discovery of novel drug molecules from ocean resources. He discussed various research methodologies, recent innovations in pharmaceutical sciences, and the growing importance of interdisciplinary approaches in modern scientific research.
During the session, the speaker emphasized the crucial role of research and development in advancing pharmaceutical technology. He also motivated students to pursue higher education and research-oriented careers in the pharmaceutical and biomedical sectors. His lecture provided valuable academic exposure and broadened the students’ understanding of current research opportunities and practices.
