Guest Lecture on “Products out of Projects – An Entrepreneurial Approach”

The Department of Biotechnology at Paavai Engineering College organized a guest lecture on “Products out of Projects – An Entrepreneurial Approach” on 20th April 2026. The event was convened by Dr. C. Nirmala, Head of the Department, along with staff coordinators Ms. M. Muthumani, Assistant Professor, and Mrs. T. Saranya, Assistant Professor. The session was delivered by Dr. N. Ezhili, Research Coordinator – Biosciences, Paavai Engineering College, Namakkal.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Ms. S. Monisha, a second-year Biotechnology student, followed by an introduction of the chief guest by Ms. M. Priyadharshini, also a second-year Biotechnology student. In her lecture, Dr. N. Ezhili provided valuable insights into transforming student projects into marketable products, emphasizing the importance of innovation, creativity, and problem-solving skills in entrepreneurship. She elaborated on the various stages involved in product development, including idea generation, feasibility analysis, prototype development, testing, and commercialization.

The speaker also highlighted the significance of startups and innovation in driving economic growth. Through real-life examples of successful entrepreneurs, she inspired students to explore entrepreneurial career paths. The session included interactive discussions, enabling participants to clarify their doubts and gain practical knowledge about converting ideas into viable business opportunities.

The lecture effectively enhanced students’ understanding of converting academic projects into practical products and encouraged entrepreneurial thinking. It also helped in developing innovation and problem-solving skills while creating awareness about startup opportunities, self-employment, and business development. Furthermore, the session provided guidance on business plan preparation, marketing strategies, and product design, motivating students to actively participate in innovation competitions, startup initiatives, and research activities to strengthen their practical skills and career prospects.

Overall, the event successfully enabled students to understand the product development lifecycle from ideation to prototype and potential commercialization, fostered an entrepreneurial mindset, and encouraged them to consider startups and independent ventures as promising career options.
