Paavai Engineering College organized an expert lecture on “Recent Trends in Renewable Energy” on 13.08.2026 with the objective of providing students with an understanding of the latest developments, technologies, and career opportunities in the renewable energy sector. The session was delivered by our distinguished alumnus Mr. P. Kamalraj, Senior Technical Sales Manager, Evolve Energy Group, Chennai.Mr. P. Kamalraj is an accomplished professional working as a Senior Technical Sales Manager at Evolve Energy Group, Chennai. As an alumnus of Paavai Engineering College, his interaction with the students provided valuable insights into the transition from academic learning to professional practice. His industry experience helped students understand the practical applications of renewable energy technologies and the skills expected by the industry.
The chief guest explained the importance of renewable energy in meeting the world’s growing energy demand while reducing dependence on conventional fossil fuels. He discussed the rapid development of solar photovoltaic systems, wind energy, energy storage systems, electric vehicles, green hydrogen, smart grids, and hybrid renewable energy systems.Particular emphasis was given to the latest trends in solar energy technologies, including improvements in solar panel efficiency, large-scale solar power plants, rooftop solar systems, and emerging applications of solar energy. The speaker also highlighted the growing role of battery energy storage systems in addressing the intermittent nature of renewable energy sources.
The session also covered the increasing importance of green hydrogen as a clean energy carrier and its potential applications in transportation, industries, and power generation. Students were introduced to the concept of integrating renewable energy sources with smart grids and modern power systems.The chief guest shared several practical industry examples and encouraged students to develop technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and awareness of emerging technologies. He also highlighted the various career opportunities in renewable energy, particularly in system design, installation, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance, sales, project management, and research and development.
