The Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with the ‘Alumni Association Cell’ organized an alumni series webinar on “FUTURE OF RETAIL INDUSTRY”on 25.11.2021. The Guest Speaker Mr.S.SutharPriyan, Deputy Manager, Reliance Industries, Chennaiwasan alumni of Mechanical Engineering Department and studied in 2008 – 2012 batch. The conduct of the webinar programme was done with the support and guidance of Dr. K.K.Ramasamy, Director Administration and Dr.M.Premkumar , Principal. The webinar was convened by Professor& Head of the Department, Dr.A.P.Sivasubramaniam and co-convened by Professor Dr.K.Sundaramurthy. The programme was co-ordinated by Mr.N.Lokeshwaran and Mr. G. Suresh Kumar, Assistant Professors of Mechanical Department. The Welcome address was delivered by Mr.R.Danush Maithraya and the Chief Guest was introduced by Mr.K. Abdullah, both final year Mechanical students. Faculty members and students actively participated in the webinar in large numbers.
Mr.S.SutharPriyan, in his presentation talked in detail about the evolution of retails sector all over the world and specially in India. He elaborated on the activities of Reliance Industries and their future expansion ideas. He also explained how artificial intelligence has entered the retail business through modern methods like Telecalling, Order from mobile applications, Drone delivery system, Robots delivery system and Smart screen order system. He also gave inputs to the students during interaction session about employability skills required for industries and searching suitable companies.
All the participants found the program interesting and informative. The final year Mechanical Engineering students, Mr.P.Jayaprakash took care of the master of ceremony and Ms. M.Dharshini delivered the Vote of Thanks.
