The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology in association with Medino organized a
one-day webinar on “Experimental Methods for Structure Based Drug Discovery” on
31.08.2023 (Friday). The students from Department of Pharmaceutical Technology attended the
webinar. The resource person Dr. M. Nachiappan astonished with various information about new
drug development process and experimental methods involved in predicting chemical structures
of drug molecule. He also discussed about the different mechanisms involved in binding of drug
and target. In developing a new drug in silico approach plays a major role in structure based drug
discovery. He also discussed about recent trends in drug discovery against unknown diseases and
already existing disease. The tools used for predicting the structure of the drug, active site
prediction, docking tools. The students made the session very interactive by asking their doubts
related to computer aided drug design. The resource person clarified their doubts patiently and
made the session successful.
