On March 17, 2025, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (IoT) organized a Guest Lecture titled “The Start-up Ecosystem: Entrepreneurship and the Future of Business.” The objective of the session was to enhance students’ understanding of entrepreneurship and business intelligence within the current start-up ecosystem.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Mehala J., a third-year CSE (IoT) student. Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing key concepts such as start-ups, entrepreneurship, ownership, and the future of business.
Mr. Vasanthan S., a third-year CSE (IoT) student, introduced the keynote speaker, Ms. Tamilarasi Krishnasamy, Founder of Kalpakala Foundation, Salem.
In her insightful presentation, Ms. Tamilarasi Krishnasamy covered various topics including start-up models, how to initiate a start-up, and future business trends. She elaborated on crucial entrepreneurial concepts such as high ownership, external funding, scaling, innovation, impact, business models, and market disruption. To make the session more interactive, she conducted a quiz and provided in-depth knowledge on revenue stream models and their role in the ecosystem.
The seminar attracted 110 participants, including second- and third-year CSE (IoT) students and faculty members. Students participated enthusiastically and posed thoughtful questions, which were addressed by the guest speaker.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Rithika S., also a third-year CSE (IoT) student.
The event was coordinated by Dr. M. Rameshkumar, Professor and Head of the Department, along with Mr. S. Sathish (Faculty Coordinator), and student coordinators Mr. Siddharthan T. and Ms. Harisha K.
Overall, the Guest Lecture successfully enriched the participants’ knowledge and understanding of entrepreneurship and the future of business.
