The Department of Food Technology organized a one-day industrial visit to the Periyar University Incubation Unit, Salem, on 16th April 2025. A total of 41 students and 3 faculty members actively participated in this insightful visit.
The visit began with an introductory session led by the Head of the Incubation Unit, who provided an overview of the incubation center and its various operations. The session was highly interactive, with students enthusiastically sharing ideas and engaging in meaningful discussions.
Following the introduction, the team explored various facilities within the unit, including the Groundnut Bar (Chikki) Unit, Yoga Bar/Energy Bar Production Unit, Twin Screw Extruder, Packaging Machine, Cutting Machine, Sugar Boilers, and Blenders. The Unit Manager provided a detailed, live demonstration of each machine and its functioning, allowing students to gain hands-on knowledge of equipment such as dryers, extruders, and packaging machinery.
An additional highlight of the visit was an interactive session with the CEO of Dream Company, a startup specializing in millet pops. His inspiring journey and entrepreneurial insights left a lasting impression on the students, sparking curiosity and motivation.
The visit proved to be a fantastic learning experience, offering students practical exposure to food processing technologies and entrepreneurial perspectives. It was truly a fantabulous day of knowledge, inspiration, and growth for all participants.
