The Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with IIC-PEC and EDC organized a Workshop titled “Process Design and Development” on 16.05.2024. The objective of this workshop was to provide knowledge on the concepts of Computational Fluid Dynamics in process design and development. Welcome address was given by S.Sugandhan from Second Year Mechanical. Dr. K. Karthik Selva Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Green Energy Technology, Madanjeet School of Green Energy Technology, Pondicherry University, was the guest speaker. M.Shamkumar, from second year Mechanical introduced the resource speaker.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. K. Karthik Selva Kumar, the resource speaker is a renowned expert in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics. In his lecture, he touched upon various aspects of process design and development using CFD. To explain the features and options of CFD, he took a case study of unmanned aerial vehicle (Drone) design. He also showed examples how to apply the facilities of CFD for designing various products.
He emphasized students to develop skills sets of various modelling and analysis software to get good employment in MNC’s and other big companies. Dr. K. Karthik Selva Kumar elaborately explained how various parts of the drone are designed using CFD through PPT, going step by step.
In the end of the session, the guest speaker answered various questions raised by the students. Around 200 students participated in this workshop along with faculty members.
The session ended with a Vote of Thanks delivered by K.Mohanraj, from Second year Mechanical.
