A one-day Guest Lecture on the title “World Earth Day – பூமியின் அமைப்பும் பாதுகாப்பும்” was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering in association with Paavai Civil Engineering Association & Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous) on 21.04.2023. Ms.V.Shanmathi, Third year student welcomed the gathering and Ms.Sridharshini, Final year student introduced the chief guest.
Shri.CA.N.V.Natarajan, Chairman, Paavai Educational Institutions delivered his presidential address on this event, he elaborated about the importance of Earth Resources and protection of Earth from various polluting contaminants.
Dr.P. Thangaraju, M.Sc., Ph.D., Government Approved – Geologist, Syndicate Member, Periyar University, Salem was the resource speaker.
He briefed about the history of Earth day’s celebration, adaptability and shape of Earth. He explained about 3R’s – reduce, recycle and reuse in-order to obtain pollution free Earth. Also he insisted to reduce the usage of plastics, and dispose the wastage into proper ways that it should not affect the environment in any manner. Guest insisted that Youngsters should create awareness among the people about Pollution and its hazards to the livings and train them to protect from pollution. Faculty members and students actively participated in the Guest Lecture and queries from the students were effectively replied by the speaker. Feedbacks by the students were received.

Prof.K.Sharmiladevi, HoD/Civil, Dr.A.Vivekanandhini, HoD/Agri, Dr. P.Mahalakshmi, HoD/ Department of Geology, Mr.P.Vignesh, AP/Civil and Mr.M.Rajkannan, AP/Civil Faculty coordinators along with faculty members, and around 200 participants from the departments of Civil Engineering, Agriculture Engineering and Geology were present in Guest Lecture.
