On behalf of Women Welfare Committee, Paavai Engineering College, a seminar was conducted on Awareness of Cervical Cancer at Kalam’s Chamber on 01.07.2024. The seminar started at 2.30 p.m. with the prayer song. Welcome address was delivered by Ms.Pooja, B.Pharm. The Presidential address was given by Dr. Hepsi Rachel Chellarai, Principal, Paavai College of Nursing and Research; she narrated the incidence of cervical cancer and the statistics of the patients affected and the death rates due to cervical cancer around the world and in India. She also explained about the role of vaccination in preventing the disease. Dr.M.Sangeetha, D.G.O, FICOG,MCCG, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Vidya Medical Centre, Salem, the guest speaker explained the causes, types, signs and symptoms, stages, screening tests and prevention of Cervical Cancer. She emphasized the role of vaccination in preventing people from such a dreadful disease. 220 participants, students from the Para-medical Colleges and the female faculty members attended and were benefited. Mr.Ajith Singh, Divisional Business Manager, Serum Institute of India Private Limited explained the vaccination schedule and the cost of it. Ms. Sneha, IV B.Sc.Nursing proposed the vote of thanks.
