The Department of Biotechnology conducted a Guest lecture on the topic “Exploring Career Pathways: Opportunities in Life Sciences” and provided attendees with a comprehensive overview of the diverse career paths available in this dynamic field on March 27, 2024. The Resource person was Dr. Shivakrishna Pabba, Managing Director, Lavin Laboratories, Telangana. The session started with a brief profile introduction of the esteemed guest by Mr. Sethupathy, B. Tech Biotechnology II year student. The session featured enriched speaker’s expertise from various sectors within the life sciences industry, including academia, research, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, healthcare, and entrepreneurship. Throughout the event, speakers shared their personal experiences, insights, and expertise, offering invaluable advice to attendees. The importance of academic pursuits in life sciences, highlighting avenues such as pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, as well as doctoral research. They elaborated on the significance of the studies. The webinar explored the entrepreneurial aspect of life sciences, with speakers sharing their journeys of founding and scaling biotech startups. In conclusion, the Department of Biotechnology’s webinar on “Exploring Career Pathway Opportunities in Life Sciences” provided attendees with a comprehensive overview of the diverse career paths available in this dynamic field. It plays a crucial role in guiding and inspiring the next generation of life scientists and innovators. He insisted on student interactive sessions; his teaching and presentation were wonderful, thought-provoking, and insightful. A total of 80 students attended the lecture which went for 1 and a half hours. It was a thought-feeding session and concluded by answering the queries of students followed by a vote of thanks given by Ms. C. Santhiya, a student of II-year Biotechnology. The feedback form was posted at the end of the session which has certain questions and suggestions to improve the Guest lecture in the future.
