The Department of EEE, Paavai Institutions, conducted a guest lecture on the title, “GRID AUTOMATION SYSTEM – OVERVIEW” on 19.02.2019. Dr.M.PREMKUMAR, Principal, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), presided over the function and insisted the students to consider this kind of guest lecture as an opportunity to know the advancements in the field of electrical engineering in grid automation. He also insisted the need of developing the skills in their respective domains and learning other languages which would help them during their career. Knowledge upgradation is quite necessary and there is always a constant opportunity for effective electrical engineers. Mr.N.Thiruvenkadam, Engineering Project Manager, ABB India Limited, PG Grid Automation System, Bengaluru, was the chief guest. In his lecture, he pointed out the automation system provided to grid and the protecting devices such as Relays, Circuit breakers, Isolators which are used in transmission sectors. He also explained about SCADA system concepts for grid automation. He insisted the participants to shape themselves according to the needs of the society as they are in the period of innovation.
