A Six-day online Faculty Development Programme on “AI & Deep Learning Approach for Image Processing and its Applications” was organised by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), Namakkal from 19th June to 24th June 2023, in association with IETE, Erode Centre and Enthu Technologies, Coimbatore.
In the presidential address, Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College addressed the gathering and he stated that Artificial Intelligence is the need of the hour. He also appreciated the efforts taken by the department in organising such Faculty Development programme. The inauguration was followed with the welcome address by Dr.M.Sudha, Head of the Department, ECE and the introduction of resource speaker by Dr.R.Mohanapriya ASP, ECE. The Coordinators of Faculty development programme, Dr.S.Vijayakumar, Professor, ECE, Mrs.C.Vanaja ASP, ECE, Mr.S.Loganathan, AP, ECE, Mr.S.Satheesh Kumar AP,ECE, Mr.S.Sathish, AP, ECE, and other faculty members are also attended the inaugural session.
Day 1: Dr.G.Kalaiyarasi, Associate Professor, Department of ECE, VSB Engineering College, Karur was the guest speaker. Welcome address was given by Dr.R.Mohanapriya ASP, ECE. The speaker presented the topic on “Hiper spectral Image Processing and its applications”. She explained about key aspects of image processing in all fields. She insisted all the faculty enable their students to develop their skills in Image Processing. She cited a lot of examples and showed videos related to the Hiper spectral Image Processing. The session was more interactive.
Day 2: Dr.Anju Asokan, Assistant Professor, Department of CCE, Sri Eswar College of Engineering, Coimbatore was the resource Speaker. Guest speaker introduction was done by Dr.R.Mohana Priya, Assocaite Professor, department of ECE. Dr.Anju Asokan handled the session on “Optimization Techniques for Image Processing Application”. She explained about need for optimization technique in image processing and its applications. The session ended with a discussion by the participants.
Day 3: Dr.D.Rukmani Devi, Professor, Department of ECE, RMD Engineering College, Chennai was the Guest speaker. Mrs.C. Vanaja, Associate Professor, Department of ECE given the guest introduction. Dr.D.Rukmani Devi handled the session on “GAN Deep Learning approaches in image processing applications”. She explained image to image translation, Taxonomy of machine learning. The session ended with a discussion by the participants.
Day 4: Dr.S.Sridevi Associate Professor, School of Computer Science and Engineering, VIT, Chennai was Resource Speaker. Resource speaker introduction was done by Mr.S. Loganathan, Assistant Professor, Department of ECE. Dr.S.Sridevi handled the session on “Hybrid AI technique that leverages merits of deep learning and machine learning”. She explained the advantages of deep learning and machine learning. She also discussed the comparison between human intelligence with AI. The session was more interactive.
Day 5: Dr.S.Kanagamalliga Associate Professor, ECE, Saveetha Engineering College, Chennai was the resource Speaker. Resource speaker introduction was done by Mrs.C.Vanaja, Associate Professor, Department of ECE. Dr.S.Kanagamalliga discussed in the title “Artificial Intelligence based object detection and tracking”. She elucidated about the AI techniques in object detection. The session ended with a discussion by the participants.
Day 6: Dr.K.Subramanian Technical Lead, Enthu Technologies Pvt., Ltd., was the resource speaker. Introduction of guest was done by Dr.S.Vijayakumar, Professor, Department of ECE. Dr.K.Subramanian handled the session on “Industrial applications of AI”. He gave many applications by using artificial Intelligence in industry. He explained AI controlled Home Automation, Google Assistant. The session ended by showing simulation of AI techniques. The six day FDP was ended with a Vote of thanks by Mrs. C.Vanaja, ASP, ECE. The FDP have brought increased self-efficiency and teaching competency among those who were trained. The FDP programme was attended around 200 participants from different Institutions across India.
