The department of MCA organized a one day workshop on “Recent Trends in Computer Technology” on 25th January 2019. The function started on a divine note with prayer song. Ms.P.Kokila of second year MCA welcomed the gathering. The function was presided over by Dr. P.Muthusamy, Head of Department, Master of Computer Applications, Paavai Engineering College. The opening session, “PHP with MySQL” was handled by Mr.Senthilvelan, Professor, Department of MCA, Paavai Engineering College. He briefed about PHP Introduction, Environment Setup, Syntax, Variable Types, Constants, Operator Types, Decision Making, Loop Types, Arrays, Web Concepts and PHP-MySQL Database Connectivity with examples. Session 2 dealt with “Big Data Analytics & Hadoop” by Mrs.V.Annapoorani, Assistant Professor, Department of MCA, Paavai Engineering College. She focused on the area such as Big Data, Big Data Technology, Data Explosion, Data Measurements, Data Warehouse, Issues on Legacy Systems, Hadoop, Companies using Hadoop, Hadoop Architecture, Hadoop Server Roles, Hadoop Core Services, Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), HDFS Blocks, Operations, Architecture and Map Reduce Architecture with examples. Session 3 was about “Agile Methodologies” handled by Mr.C.Rathnakumar, Assistant Professor, Department of MCA, Paavai Engineering College. He gave detailed information about Agile Methodologies Introduction, Traditional Approach, Agile Software Development, Agile Values, Agile Principles, Traditional Vs Agile model, Classification of Agile Methods, Limitations of Agile Methodologies and Reduce Limitations using components with development examples. Session 4 concentrated on “Cloud Computing” by Dr. P.Muthusamy, Head of Department, Master of Computer Applications, Paavai Engineering College. He gave some detailed information about Introduction to Cloud Computing, Characteristics, Underlying Components of Cloud Computing, Grid Computing, Virtual Machine (VM), Commercial Cloud Offers Organizations and Benefits of Cloud Computing. Then, he demonstrated Cloud Models like SaaS, PaaS, IaaS and their services, Issues and Challenges of Cloud Computing with example models and applications in the cloud environment. The function ended with vote of thanks by Mr.S.Shreedhar, second year MCA. Heads of various Departments, Professors, and Faculty members actively participated in the progamme and made it a grand success. Students from various Arts and Science colleges located in Salem and Namakkal and our MCA students participated with full zeal and were benefitted by this programme.
