The Department of Mechatronics inaugurated ‘Microbytes Innovative Club (MIC)’ and organized a guest lecture program on the title of “Corporate Expectations from Budding Engineers: Myths and Realities”. The session was inaugurated at 10.00 a.m. in Kalams Chamber by Dr.K.K.Ramasamy, Director Administration, Paavai Institutions, in the presence of Head of the department MCT, faculty members and the participants from the departments of Mechanical and MCA of Paavai Engineering College.
The keynote address was given by the guest speaker Mr. Elanchezhiyan. K.G, Executive HR, Ducen IT Pvt Ltd, Chennai. He expressed his sincere gratitude to Paavai Engineering College for their support. He elaborated his experience as a student of Paavai which gave him confidence to face the real world outside the campus. The session was continued on the title “Corporate Expectations from Budding Engineers: Myths and Realities”. He enumerated various tips for facing interviews in corporate world such as Communication Skills, Knowledge Beyond the Textbooks, Ability to Lead, Positive Approach and Updated with Latest in Technology. He also emphasized that the importance of personal management, time management, punctuality, dress code as professionals, which all would add up on their reputation and performance evaluation sheets, that most reputable corporate in India are keen upon.
He highlighted that, stressed, employed doesn’t mean to receive a pay check regularly, it also implies that to meet the expectation of the company and delivering the best of oneself. He said that, an engineer is expected to do multitask in his organization. While he plays the role of a leader to his teammates, he may be expected to handle client queries simultaneously. An engineer who lacks the ability to handle many tasks at a time, may fail to cope with these industry expectations. If you have to survive in the engineering field, hone your multitasking abilities and skills.
He expressed his gratitude to chairman sir and correspondent madam for their constant encouragement and support which has made him to reach great heights in his life. He rendered his heartfelt thanks to the Management, Head of the Department – MCT and the faculty members for their constant and continuous guidance. Mr. S. Hariharan, III-year Mechatronics Engineering, welcomed the gathering. Around 200 students from Mechatronics, Mechanical and Master of Computer Applications were benefited from the lecture. The lecture was followed by a question-answer session. Finally, Mr. B. Nithish Kumar – IV year Mechatronics, proposed vote of thanks. With this session came to an end.
