On 12th December 2019, a special address on “Kavalan SOS Mobile App – Namkaaval Mobile APP” was conducted in Anandha Arangam at 10.00 a.m. The programme commenced with the prayer song and Tamilthai Vazhthu. Ms.M.Jenifa of II B.A. English welcomed the gathering. The Chairman of Paavai Institutions honoured the chief guest with shawl and momento. In his presidential address he stated that Paavai Mission of Women Empowerment Series will create awareness about the usage of Safety Apps for women and children. Ms. N.Mounika of II M.A. English introduced the Chief Guest. The Guest Speaker Shri.Ara.Arularasu, I.P.S., Superintendent of Police, Namakkal, in his speech he explained about the safety app and cyber safe. He addressed the students as daughters and asked them to protect themselves, their family and the society through their honest deeds. He quoted the famous personalities who fought for women and their freedom, like Bharathiyar, Bharathidasan and Periyar. He also specified that every girl student should have a purpose in life by citing two living examples Mrs.Ambiga, DCP, Mumbai, a victim of child marriage and Ms.Sunitha Krishnan, Founder of Prajwala anti-trafficting organization working on the issue of sex trafficking and sex crime who was a victim for gang rape. The Guest Speaker also explained that suicide is not a final solution for all the problems. He advised the students to have a purpose and goal in life which will take them to next level and make them achieve success. A short video for the usage of Kavalan SOS and Namkaval apps were displayed to the students depicting the negative impact of social media networks like whatsapp, facebook, twitter and instagram and clearly explained the usage of safety apps to protect themselves in need of assistance against sexual harassment, robbery, kidnap and so on. The Guest speaker answered to the questions raised by students regarding safety measures. He advised the girl students to carry pepper spray and chilly spray for their safety. He also explained the IPC sections which favors women in many cases and how they can get free advice and legal counseling from government. The Correspondent of Paavai Institutions felicitated the gathering. In her felicitation, she asked the students to be more careful in their speech and action and should have dress etiquettes and proper attitude. She also advised the students not to let other women down, since trustworthiness is an important factor in all relationships. The programme came to an end with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms.S.Karthika of II B.A. English followed by the National Anthem.
