The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous) in association with IFERP had organized an online webinar on“Online Teaching Techniques and Tools”on 18thJuly 2020. Dr.R.MohanaPriya, Associate Professor, ECE gave the welcome note and introduced the Guest speakers ,Dr.A.Kalaivani, Associate Professor,CSE Saveetha School of Engineering,Chennai and Dr.VishaldattKohir, Professor, Mechanical Engineering, KBN University, Bangalore.
The first session of the webinar was handled by Dr.A.Kalaivani,Associate Professor, CSE Saveetha School of Engineering, Chennai. In her lecture, she gave an introduction about “Online Teaching” and explained the seven principles of a good teacher. She elucidated about the different types of online teaching techniques and strategies such as Cooperative and Self – paced learning. She also described about the GOOGLE CLASSROOM and its features. She also explained the usage of Google forms to conduct assessments, surveys, online quiz etc.
The second session of the webinar was handled by Dr.VishaldattKohir, Professor, Mechanical Engineering, KBN University, Bangalore. In his talk, he stressed the importance of BLENDED LEARNING and its purpose using Google classroom. He also explained the pros and cons of blended learning with flipped classroom. He also narrated the importance of Online teaching and learning during COVID and its benefits to the stake holders. In addition, he elucidated about e-content, its types and pedagogical issues in e-content development and highlighted its importance for faculty and students. At the end of both the sessions, queries were posted and answered by the guest speakers. Finally, the session ended with a Vote of Thanks. This webinar was live telecasted in YouTube.
