The Department of Mechanical Engineering and The Resource Club jointly organized a webinar on “DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS – AIR AND DIRT REMOVAL IN CHW SYATEMS” on 27.04.2022 to create awareness among the students about the HVAC(Heat, Ventilation, Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning) industry and its job potential in India and abroad. Mr.Sriram Sridhar, Regional Sales Manager, Aalberts Hydronic Flow Control, Dubai, United Arab Emirates was the Guest Speaker. The Director –Administration, Dr. K.K.Ramasamy, and the Principal, Dr.M.Premkumar provided the required support and guidance to conduct the programme. The webinar was convened by Professor& Head of the Department, Dr.A.P.Sivasubramaniam and coordinated by Professors Dr.K.Sundaramurthy and Dr.V.Subburam. The Welcome address was delivered by Ms.M.Dharshini of Final year Mechanical Engineering and the Chief Guest introduced by Mr. N. Selva Prabhu of Third year Mechanical Engineering students. Faculty members and students actively participated in the webinar in large numbers.
Mr.Sriram Sridhar, explained how the HVAC industry is growing world-wide and its future market potential. Given the increasing Global Warming trend, the demand for cooling facilities are bound to grow, he stated. He also explained through PPTs, the different types of system available to provide cooling to a shopping mall or theatre or stadium that include using chilled water through tubes. This cooling technique is finding wide application even in India, he further added. He also urged the students to observe and learn about the cooling systems used in shopping malls or any other public facilities when they visit there. He also advised the students to study for knowledge and not for scoring in exams and provided lot of information about the job opportunities in this field. At the end of the session the guest speaker answered elaborately to the questions raised by the students and the faculty members.
