The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC-PEC) had organized an awareness programme on “INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS” through KAPILA, NIPAM, DPIIT and Indian Patent Office on 28th April 2022 from 11.00 a.m. to 1.00p.m. through Microsoft teams platform. Mr.A.Seetha Raman, Examiner of Patents and Designs, Patent Office, Chennai was the resource speaker. The welcome address was given by Dr.M.PremKumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College. Dr.R.Mohana Priya, Associate Professor, ECE and Convener of IIC introduced the guest speaker.
The session was continued by Mr.A.Seetha Raman, Examiner of Patents and Designs, Patent Office, Chennai. He explained about the importance and significance of patents, highlighted about Copyrights, types of IPR. He also explained about the designs opted by different companies, trademarks. He also elucidated about the importance of various products based on their brands, smiley face business, and bundle of rights. He also explained about the validity of patents, copyrights, trademarks, copyrights and how persons can apply for it. In the later part of the session, a video of Dr.Mohit Gambhir – Director-Ministry of Education’s Innovation cell – regarding KAPILA program and awareness of Intellectual Property Rights was played for the participants. Finally the session ended with a Vote of thanks from the SPOC Coordinator of the event – Dr.R.Mohana Priya, Associate Professor, ECE. Around 250 participants from various departments attended the online session. The heads of various departments, Dr.K.Sundaramoorthy, Vice President, IIC, Mr.S.Sathish, AP, ECE, Dr.P.Pugalenthi, Assistant Professor, Mechanical and EDC, IIC faculty coordinators attended the session.
