The department of Mechatronics and ISTE student chapter of Paavai Engineering College organized a one-day online webinar through Google Meet Platform titled on “INDUSTRIAL SAFETY AN EFFECTIVE PHENOMENON FOR IMPROVING PRODUCTIVITY IN INDUSTRY” on 12th May 2022. Mr. Naveen.V, second year B.E/MCT welcomed the participants. Dr.M. Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College, explained the overall concepts of industrial safety and the various accidents, their reasons and how it could be avoided if SOPs i.e. Standard Operating Procedures are followed. Mr. S.B Thinesh, final year B.E/MCT introduced the chief guest. Mr.T.R. Sukumar, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore was the guest speaker. He pointed out the different facets and aspects of engineering systems safety, focusing on tools, techniques and methodologies needed for prevention of occurrences of unsafe operations and accidents under different industrial settings. Further, he narrated the need of creating awareness in the society about precautions while handling various domestic appliances. At the end of session, he advised the students not to make any compromise on SOPs to ensure safety of humans, animals and property. Finally, the vote of thanks was proposed by Mr.V. Harish, final year B.E/MCT. The webinar helped the students as well as staff in understanding the concept of Industrial Safety. The session was very informative and interesting. Totally 80 students got benefited from the session.
