The Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with the Resource club an online guest lecture titled “Surface Metrology” was conducted on 18.08.2022.The objective of the lecture is to provide knowledge on measuring techniques and its applications in various areas.Welcome address was given by S.Sivalingam, from Final Year Mechanical. Dr.A.Prabukarthi, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore was the resource speaker T.Saranraj, from third year Mechanical introduced the resource speaker.
In his address,he delivered about the surface evolution, engine crankcase and its practical applications. He explained the surface roughness and direct instrument measurement applications and also explained the importance of Non-Direct measuring techniques like optical microscope, Electron microscope, optical sensor and machine vision system for better understanding of the students. It helped the students to gain information about the functions of different microscope, their types and uses in measurements.
Also during the session he explained the support for fundamental research, Product design, Process design, Quality assurance and the techniques of process control.Around 100 members participated in the online guest lecture. Queries were posted and clarified by the resource speaker.
The session ended with a Vote of Thanks delivered by J.Naveenkumar, from third year Mechanical.
