The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in association with the Institution of Engineers India, (IEI-Salem Local centre), organised an online Guest Lecture titled “Microwave Electronics-Future Trends” on 08.09.2022. It was aimed at disseminating knowledge to students about the role of electronics engineers in the Microwave Electronics. The welcome address was given by Ms.A.Adhilabanu, Third year/ECE, Dr.M.Premkumar, Principal gave the presidential address. Ms.Anuvarshitha, from Final year ECE introduced the resource speaker. Mr.C.Ganesh, AP/CCE, Sri Eshwar College of Engineering, Coimbatore was the resource speaker.
In his address, he started the guest lecture with the topic – electromagnetic spectrum and explained about different types of microwave diodes such as Gunn Diode, TRAPATT Diode and Microwave devices. He also discussed the topics of Magnetron and Helix travelling wave tubes. He also explained the advantages of semiconductor microwave devices and microwave vacuum tubes. The students were able to acquaint themselves with the various applications of the Microwave devices and he also engaged with the students with Puzzles and Connections. Around 85 members participated in the online Guest Lecture. Queries were posted and it was clarified by the resource speaker.
The session ended with a Vote of Thanks by Ms.K.Kaviya, Final Year, ECE. Mrs.C.Vanaja. Associate Professor, ECE and Mrs.E.Sangeetha, Associate Professor, ECE, organised the event. Dr.M.Sudha, Professor and Head, ECE, Dr.R.MohanaPriya and Dr.T.Loganayaki, Association coordinators also attended the seminar along with faculty members of ECE.
