An awareness program was conducted on the title of “Opportunities for Higher Studies in Foreign Universities” by the ‘Centre for Foreign Studies’ in Association with IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) on 02.02.2023 in Kalam’s Chamber. Dr.M.PREMKUMAR, Principal, Paavai Engineering College and Dr.K. Sundaramurthy, Head – IQAC were the main speakers who spoke at length about various aspects of higher studies in foreign countries. Ms.S.PUNITHA VALLI, DRAM Test Development Engineer, Micron Memory, Taiwan and Mr.P.SANTHOSH, Masters student, Yuan Ze University, Taiwan, alumni of our college took part in the program as on-line guest speakers. Dr.V.SUBBURAM, Coordinator, ‘Higher Studies – Abroad’ also took part in the program. The Welcome address was delivered by Mr.J.NAVEEN KUMAR, Third year Mechanical student.
The Principal, in his elaborate speech, explained the current scenario of Indian students’ preferences and opportunities for higher studies in foreign countries. After narrating his experiences of foreign trips to different universities, he told that Taiwan universities are offering excellent opportunities for Indian students to do Internships, PG courses and Ph.D degrees with fee–waiver which would suit financially constrained students with merit. He further talked about the “Indo – Taiwan International Summit” conducted during 25th and 26th of Feb, 2019 in Paavai Campus in which Professors from Taiwan Universities participated. He also talked about the MoUs signed with some of the Taiwan Universities by Paavai Engineering College that include Asian University and Yuan Ze University and the visit of Paavai students to Taiwan under Students-Exchange Program. He also mentioned about the state-of-the-art facilities of laboratories and globally networked researches carried out in the field of Semi-conductor technology, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning by Taiwan Universities some of which are among the top 250 Universities of the world. He continued further that people of Taiwan are very friendly and the country is safe one for our students. He urged the students to make use of the Taiwan opportunities for higher studies and told that suitable opportunities in other countries are also continuously being explored by our institution and arrangements carried out in this regard.
The alumni speakers Ms.S.PUNITHA VALLI and Mr.P.SANTHOSH shared their educational and work experiences in Taiwan through on-line mode and answered the questions of the students on campus life, social life, cost of living, application procedure among others.
Dr.K.SUNDARAMURTHY who led a group of students from Paavai to Taiwan universities for Internship, gave a Power Point Presentation about his trip. He talked about the relationship between our institution and Professors of Taiwan universities and the opportunities they are offering to our students. He narrated his personal experiences of discipline, friendliness and helping tendency that he observed in the Professors and common people of Taiwan. He further shared the application procedure, selection process and communication details of Taiwan universities with the students and told them to avail the opportunities.
Large number of students from various departments along with their faculty members took part in the program and found it very interesting and informative. At the end final year student, Mr.N.SELVAPRABU proposed the Vote of Thanks.
